Excessive sweating, known under its medical term Hyperhidrosis, is a topic which is rarely talked about. It is an embarrassing condition for many people and sometimes even disabling and could easily ruin one’s social and professional life.
What is hyperhidrosis?
The purpose of sweating is to keep a constant body temperature around 37°C through evaporative sweat. We speak of Hyperhidrosis when the amount of sweat largely exceeds the quantity required for thermoregulation. In generalized hyperhidrosis excessive sweating occurs over the entire body. It is often caused by a medical condition such as an infection, a chronic disease, or a disorder that disrupts the body’s natural balance of hormones. It may also be caused by medications. This is why it is important to consult your physician for a thorough examination to determine a diagnosis, and to move on any of the options available to you.

The injection of neuromodulators (BOTOX®) into the affected areas is an effective treatment option for hyperhidrosis. After a first treatment, he benefits will last about 7 months. Neuromodulators (BOTOX®) are considered safe and effective when administered by a doctor or a nurse with specialized training for this kind of treatment. A small dose of medication is injected just under the skin of the armpit. You will see a significant reduction in underarm sweating within 7 days after treatment.
